Salt Lake City Utah Newborn Photographer | Light and Shadows - Silhouette

Welcome to month three of our Light and Shadows Project.  This is a monthly project I'm participating in with an extremely talented group of photographers from around the world.  This exercise is meant to push us outside our comfort zones by forcing us to see and use light differently each month.  To see last month's post click HERE.

The theme for March was Silhouette.  I tried to think outside my normal, little box and capture a few non-typical silhouettes.  My kids had fun with this one and I also had the privilege of working with a couple models who graciously humored me when I asked them to pose in front of car headlights (my parked car, don't worry) and told them to "trust me"  :)

 Moments.  Light.  Love.  Connection.  Beauty.

For me, photo sessions are about so much more than just taking pictures.  My goal with every image I take is to get inside a real moment and freeze it in time.  I love capturing my families in their natural environment.  We take shoes off, let hair down and relax in comfortable clothes.  Then I work very hard to make everyone feel comfortable so eventually they forget I am even there.

I come and step into your life for a couple hours and leave with beautiful moments that you will cherish for a lifetime.  

Real beauty, real connections, real memories.

I had the privilege of traveling to Cedar City, Utah to capture this amazing family.  Abbey is the owner of AK Studio Design and I was so honored and excited to have the privilege of photographing her gorgeous new baby girl and sweet family.

Salt Lake City Utah Family Photographer | 11-on-11 Project March 2014

It's hard to believe March is already here!  We have had amazing weather lately and after being cooped up inside all winter, we have definitely caught a major case of spring fever.

Hope you enjoy some of our happenings from the past month...

Our mornings generally begin with story-time.  She is very particular about the books we read.

A little afternoon exploring.  She tries so hard to keep up with her brothers.

Mid-afternoon baths are the best.

Selfies.  They aren't required this year, but I still always try to take one.  Getting myself on the other side of that lens is always a challenge, but something I know my kids and I will truly appreciate one day.

Busted.  I walked in and found her climbing up the banister - a no no in our house.  I was trying to take a pic of it (of course) and not thinking she would actually do it, told her to jump down...
